The halls of Benjamin Logan Elementary School were abuzz with excitement as eager young scientists showcased their creativity and ingenuity at the annual science fair. With around sixty students presenting projects spanning a wide array of topics, the event was a testament to the curiosity and passion for learning that thrives within the school community.

At the Logan County Land Trust, we believe in nurturing the next generation of environmental stewards and supporting their endeavors. This year, we were thrilled to participate in the science fair by selecting two standout projects for special recognition and awards from the Land Trust.

Fourth grader Danyka Iiams captured our attention with her project titled “Color = Cash,” which explored the fascinating world of color psychology and its impact on consumer behavior. Danyka’s innovative approach and insightful findings earned her a well-deserved spot as one of our award recipients.

Equally impressive was third grader Thea Ricker’s project, “Environmental Water Filtration,” which delved into the importance of clean water and methods for purifying it using natural materials. Thea’s dedication to environmental conservation and her demonstration of practical solutions to real-world challenges left a lasting impression on the judges.

In recognition of their outstanding efforts, Danyka and Thea were presented with certificates of achievement and special hummingbird feeders, symbolizing our appreciation for their commitment to scientific inquiry and environmental awareness.

As we celebrate the achievements of these young scientists, we are reminded of the importance of fostering a love for science and sustainability from an early age. Through initiatives like the science fair and our support of student projects, we aim to inspire curiosity, creativity, and a sense of responsibility towards our planet.
