Benjamin Logan Environmental Science Club Program

Benjamin Logan Environmental Science Club Program

Beautiful green pastures spotted with grazing happy, healthy cattle set the stage for the next to last program of the BLES Club.   Lois and Bob Stoll began the program with discussion about making better eating choices and how that will improve our health, our attitude and our well being.   Bob Stoll explained to the students how their beef cattle are moved daily onto fresh forage and how and how these techniques create a healthy soil, resulting in healthy, nutrient rich plants and animals that are consumed by humans that nourish our bodies and improve our immune system and our mental health.   Four stations were visited by the students where they learned to read a recipe and make a healthy protein bowl from kale, rice, ground beef and seasoning.  From there the students learned about beef by- products and next created a healthy trail mix rich in vitamins and lastly learned about the beef animals and how they are raised along with the many products that are derived from beef and used in so many industries.

The BLES club is sponsored by the Logan County Land Trust and instructors: Spencer Reames, Bruce Smith, Catherine Carter and Bob Stoll all donate their time and talent each week.
